Gluten Alert: BioArtesa Lentils

Comparte en tus Redes Sociales

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition has activated an alert due to the undeclared presence of wheat and other cereals in pardina lentils marketed under the BioArtesa brand. The notice affects certain batches distributed in the Spanish market and poses a particularly significant risk for celiac individuals and those with wheat allergies or sensitivities.

The incident was detected due to a labeling error that incorrectly failed to declare the presence of allergens. Consequently, health authorities have recommended not to consume the product if you have it at home, to check the batch number, and, if in doubt, to avoid eating it until official information is confirmed. This type of alert is particularly sensitive because many consumers place their trust in “gluten-free” labeling or the apparent absence of problematic ingredients.

For the celiac community, any error of this kind can have significant consequences, as even small amounts of gluten can trigger digestive symptoms, fatigue, or intestinal damage. Therefore, patient associations emphasize the need for extreme vigilance regarding packaged products, especially when it comes to processed legumes, flours, or prepared foods where the risk of cross-contamination is higher.

This case once again highlights the need to strengthen quality controls throughout the entire food chain, from manufacturing to distribution. It also underscores the importance of regularly checking official alert lists, a key tool for preventing food incidents. In a market where the demand for celiac-friendly products continues to grow, labeling safety becomes an essential element of trust between manufacturers and consumers.
