Don’t miss the chance to eat with one of the best views in Santander!

Fishermen’s Quarter (Barrio Pesquero)

The Fishermen’s Quarter of Santander is a corner where maritime tradition comes to life. Located in the industrial area of Maliaño, this neighborhood, built on land reclaimed from the sea, reflects the essence of the working-class districts of the 1950s. Over time, it has evolved into one of the most attractive destinations in the city, while maintaining its authenticity.

Famous for its cozy atmosphere and delicious gastronomic offerings based on the best seafood, the Fishermen’s Quarter is the perfect place to enjoy local cuisine and learn about the rich fishing tradition of Santander, which has shaped the history and culture of the city. In this famous neighborhood of Santander, you can also find where to eat gluten-free.

This restaurant, located in the heart of the Fishermen’s Quarter, is my undisputed favorite. I love their thematic nautical decor and the exceptional service they offer. Each visit is a guaranteed success, especially for their seafood and fish. Although the zamburiñas (scallops) are the star dish for many customers, I have never been disappointed by any of my choices.

It also has a charming closed terrace at the entrance, perfect for enjoying an outdoor meal. What really distinguishes this establishment is its unbeatable value for money, along with always cordial and welcoming treatment.

Puertochico

Puertochico, located next to the Santander marina, is a place where maritime tradition intertwines with modernity. Formerly, this picturesque neighborhood was the heart of fishing activity, where fishermen met to sew their nets and sell their catches before their activities were moved to the Fishermen’s Quarter.

Today, Puertochico has transformed into a vibrant tourist destination, but it still retains its essence. The iconic statue of the Tetuán fisherwoman and the Raqueros statues pay homage to our fishing roots and origins, reminding us of the importance of the sea in the life of Santander.
